Carey Services has been awarded Neighborhood Assistance Program tax credits it can offer to donors beginning July 1, 2018.
NAP is a program that provides Indiana tax credits to not-for-profit organizations for specific projects. Individuals and businesses who make a NAP donation to Carey Services can receive a credit on their Indiana income tax return for 50 percent of the donation amount.  Federal tax deductions might also be available.
“We were pleased to learn that we again have received tax credits we can offer donors,” said Jim Allbaugh, president and chief executive officer. “NAP is a great program that has had a tremendous impact over the years. Having the tax credits available will be helpful as we continue to improve the work we do help people become empowered and equally valued members of the community.”
For questions about a NAP-related donation, call April Scott at (765) 668-8961, ext. 111, or email her at
Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, the state organization that oversees NAP, allocates the money to agencies each year, typically in June. Agencies can begin offering the tax credits to donors on July 1.
Carey Services will use the NAP donations to help with the new Pleasant Square apartment complex that is early in the construction process. Pleasant Square is the agency’s second affordable housing complex, following the construction several years ago of the adjacent Pleasant Woods complex. Both complexes are affordable housing communities designed with individuals with disabilities in mind. Each community has five one-story accessible duplexes designed to facilitate independent living.

Carey Services is the premier local provider of employment services and other home and community-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Carey Services was established in 1954 and is an internationally accredited community based, not-for-profit agency providing an array of services to people with disabilities and other low-income individuals and families.
Carey Services is the Arc Chapter for Grant and Blackford counties and a United Way organization in both counties. Supports and services are determined through person-centered planning, where consumers and their families direct the planning and allocation of resources to meet their individual life goals.  Call (765) 668-8961 or visit for more information to seek services or employment opportunities, and to donate.  Individuals can also visit the Carey Services Facebook page
