Area high schools offer dual credit courses from Ivy Tech in Blackford, Grant and Jay Counties. These courses are offered at low or no cost. This year Ivy Tech Community College awarded 8242 dual credits to students saving area families $1,136,297.

“Dual credit courses save students money and time,” said Chancellor Alex Huskey. Marion Ivy Tech. “Students who were enrolled in dual credit as high school students can come to Ivy Tech to complete their Associate’s Degree. Upon degree completion can transfer to any of our four year partners. If students wish to begin their careers in the workforce, Ivy Tech can help those dual credits be applied to certifications.”

Jared Smith, a recent Ivy Tech graduate said, “Before coming to Ivy Tech, I took dual credit classes at my high school.  After taking dual credit classes, I was more prepared for my first semester at Ivy Tech.  Learning how to write essays in my dual credit classes prepared me to obtain my Associate’s Degree from Ivy Tech.  I am grateful and thankful that I decided to take those classes, because they were entirely beneficial for my future.”

Many area high school offers dual credit courses in Math, English, Science, and Communications and based on their high schools, more offerings are available.
