Indiana Wesleyan University alum Christina Huff has been awarded the 2019 Middle School Educator of the Year by the Indiana Music Education Association (IMEA). She will officially accept the award on Jan. 18 at the IMEA’s Professional Development Conference in Fort Wayne.
The IMEA gives this award each year to one educator at the elementary, middle school, high school and college levels. According to the IMEA, the award signifies these educators have exemplified outstanding achievement in the field of music education.
Huff teaches at McCulloch Junior High School in Marion, Indiana, where she is the choir director for 135 students. Prior to that, Huff spent nearly six years teaching music at Indiana Wesleyan University. She graduated from IWU in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education.
“I have had the opportunity to watch Christina Huff as a teacher in Howard County, here at IWU, and now at McCulloch Junior High School,” said Michael Flanagin, division chair, IWU Division of Music. “I can honestly say that I am not surprised that she would be honored with this award. Mrs. Huff’s professionalism and strength of character shine through in all that she does. As a music educator, I am proud to call her a colleague and even more proud that she represents IWU’s Division of Music in such a manner.”
