The Basics of Strong Board Service
This workshop is designed to increase the governance skills of nonprofit board members and is ideal for individuals who have a desire to serve on a nonprofit board but want to learn more about what serving entails.
During this workshop you will:
· Recognize current trends and challenges in the nonprofit sector
· Understand basic board roles and responsibilities
· Learn about appropriate board size and structure
· Use proper ways to recruit, orient, educate, retain, and evaluate board members
· Look for opportunities that match interests, skills, and level of commitment
· Promote an “organizational culture” of fundraising—the board and their role
