The Governmental Affairs committee will host Purdue Agricultural Economics Professor, Dr. Larry DeBoer, on Monday September 17th at the Ivy Tech Conference Center.
Dr. DeBoer studies Indiana state and local government budget and taxing options, emphasizing property taxes. Prof. DeBoer offers 30 to 50 extension programs each year, for county extension offices, statewide local government associations, and other Indiana audiences. He writes a monthly column about Indiana and national economic topics, called Capital Comments, and posts on Twitter under @INTaxRockStars. He teaches an undergraduate course in macroeconomics with an enrollment of 300 to 500 each semester, and has authored a macroeconomics textbook. In 2013 he was named to Purdue's "Book of Great Teachers," and in 2015 he received the Murphy Award, Purdue's highest award for undergraduate teaching.
