IWU Celebrates Spring Commencement
Indiana Wesleyan University will graduate 1,880 students during three ceremonies in the Chapel Auditorium on the Marion Campus.
A ceremony at 10:00 a.m. will include all residential undergraduate degrees, a 2:30 p.m. ceremony will include the non-residential AS, BS and AB degrees, and a 6:00 p.m. ceremony will include non-residential Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degrees, as well as all graduate degrees.
The commencement speaker is Reverend John A. Bray, a 1972 IWU alum. Bray was the senior pastor of Heritage Wesleyan Church until his retirement in 2014, at which time he was named senior pastor emeritus of the church. He also has served on the IWU Board of Trustees since 1999, held various district offices and served on the denominational committees in The Wesleyan Church over the past four decades.
Graduating on Saturday will be the first students from two new programs, the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and the Ph.D. in Education Leadership, the institution’s first Ph.D. program. Also graduating will be students from the new Spanish Speaking Programs based in Miami, Fla., which is serving students internationally. The first degree awarded in these programs is the Bachelor of Arts in Theological Studies.
IWU will also posthumously award a Bachelor of Science Degree in Christian Ministries to Thomas Dallas Davis, a Marion resident who died unexpectedly on Feb. 1, 2015.
