Pave The Way 5k
Pave The Way 5k is a race and event hosted by the Center for Success, an after school program for youth in the Marion community. The event will be taking place in downtown Marion on April 25th. The chip-timed race will begin at 9am and go through downtown Marion and loop back to finish at the Center, which is located at 428 W. 7th Street. Racers will be awarded prizes and will receive goody bags, t-shirts and a free pancake breakfast. If you are uninterested in participating in the race but would still like to support the Center, you have the option to enjoy a delicious $5 pancake breakfast, music and Balloons by Aaron!
The Center for Success is located in downtown Marion just 2 blocks from God’s House, the church that facilitates the after school program. Since it’s grand opening in September 2010, The Center has been a place of hope for 40 children that come after school on Mondays and Wednesdays. The mission of The Center is to address the academic, athletic, spiritual, and social needs of the children of downtown Marion. The Center currently offers after school mentoring and tutoring, a healthy snack, crafts, and hands-on activities.
The Pave the Way 5k event will be fundraising to support the youth that attend the Center. The registration cost for the race is $30 per entry. All proceeds will go back into the Center’s programming, which has a primary focus on igniting a passion to succeed in the lives of the children and families in the community of Marion. The Center for Success is a vital home for many children and families in the community and is a worthwhile organization to support that actively does meaningful work all week long!
