“Paradox in Aaron Copland’s Musical Setting of 12 Poems of Emily Dickinson”
Faculty Lecture - Recital featuring Lauren Walker, mezzo soprano
Composer Aaron Copland strategically combines and orders twelve Emily Dickinson poems, highlighting paradoxes that she observed, experienced, and imagined. Taylor University adjunct voice instructor Lauren Walker will present “Paradox in Aaron Copland’s Musical Setting of 12 Poems of Emily Dickinson” on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 7:30 pm in the recital hall. Conflicting forces such as peace and violence, life and death, faith and doubt are brought to the foreground through Copland’s thoughtful and sympathetic musical setting. This lecture-recital is free and open to the public.
