Taylor University Piano Lecture-Demonstration
Dr. Leon Harshenin will present “Musical Offerings: Classical Piano Literature for Worship Services”.
This lecture, with demonstrations of musical examples, explores biblical rationale for including classical piano pieces in worship services. It also offers guidelines for selecting suitable examples from classical piano literature that could be presented as preludes, offertories, meditations and postludes in worship settings.
Dr. Harshenin, Professor of Music, is beginning his 18th year as Coordinator of Piano Studies at Taylor University. He also teaches piano literature and music theory. A native of Vancouver, British Columbia, Dr. Harshenin earned a BM and MM from The Juilliard School and a DMA in Piano Performance & Pedagogy from the University of Michigan.
The public is invited to attend this free event.
