Taylor University Wind Ensemble presents a Farewell Concert for Dr. Al Harrison

Dr. Albert Harrison, Professor of Music, joined the Taylor University faculty in fall of 1978 and will have completed 38 years of service as he retires in June of 2018. Dr. Harrison will conduct the Taylor University Wind Ensemble in a Farewell Concert on Wednesday, April 11, beginning at 7:30 pm in Rediger Chapel Auditorium.
Under Dr. Harrison’s direction, the Wind Ensemble (previously called the Symphonic Band) toured annually from 1984-2007 giving concerts and leading worship services in 19 states. The Wind Ensemble has toured in various regions of the Midwest, east coast, and southern states including tours to New York City, Washington DC, Chicago, and Fort Lauderdale. In addition, the Wind Ensemble has enjoyed performing at the Palladium located in Carmel, Indiana, and the Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis. Nationally-known churches where the Wind Ensemble has performed include Choral Ridge Presbyterian in Fort Lauderdale, FL; Peach Tree Presbyterian in Atlanta, GA; Briarwood Presbyterian in Birmingham, AL; First Baptist Church of Gainesville, Florida; and most recently, First United Methodist Church in Carmel, Indiana.
Selections to be performed in this farewell concert include Festive Overture by Dmitri Shostakovich, Danzon No.2 by Arturo Marquez, Montana by Jan Van Der Roost, Foundry by John Mackey, Yorkshire Ballad by James Barnes and Khan by Julie Giroux.
