United Way of Grant County to Host Deputy Attorney General
The United Way of Grant County will host Tamara Weaver - Indiana Deputy Attorney General, Victim Services and Outreach to discuss the Nation’s current battle with Human Trafficking and the implications to Indiana’s citizens and communities. The United Way is honored to host these events in partnership with The Refinery located at 2301 S. Western Avenue.
Currently, there are more than 20 million victims of human trafficking around the world. Human trafficking affects every corner of the earth, from rural to urban areas, regardless of a nation's wealth. This event will help educate and address the local impact of Human Trafficking in Grant County and Indiana. Deputy Attorney General Tamara Weaver will help attendees understand the complexity of the issue as well as how to possibly identify victims.
Alicia Hazelwood, Executive Director of the United Way of Grant County says, “We are so thankful to have an Indiana Wesleyan Senior Natalie Bunn working to help raise awareness about this issue. She came to me with a passion about Human Trafficking and since United Way Worldwide has been working with President Obama on this, we felt it was important to share this information with the Grant County community.”
“This is not just a foreign country problem. It is actually really close to home,” Said Natalie Bunn “Ohio is actually ranked 4th in reported Human Trafficking cases in the US.”
