City Launches Crowdfunding Campaign to Support New Skatepark
The City of Marion has launched a public crowdfunding campaign to support the development of a new skatepark at Hogin Park, creating a dedicated recreational space for youth, families, and visitors in one of the city’s most active public parks. The City has secured most of the funding needed for the project through a Parks Bond issued in December 2025, and is now inviting the community to help close the remaining gap. Planned as a professionally designed concrete skatepark along the park’s existing multi-use trail system, the project is intended to expand recreational opportunities while strengthening quality of life and community vibrancy. In addition to creating a safe and inclusive outdoor space for healthy activity, the skatepark is expected to support broader efforts to enhance Marion’s parks, attract and retain residents, and invest in amenities that benefit the community for years to come. The crowdfunding campaign is supported by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority through a statewide “Patronicity” crowd-granting program. Every dollar raised through the campaign, up to $50,000, will be matched by the State of Indiana, meaning each contribution will have double the impact. Larger donors will also be recognized in print materials, at ribbon cuttings, and through the permanent display of their names and logos at the site. Community members, businesses, and supporters are encouraged to contribute, share the campaign, and help bring the project to life. The City of Marion continues to invest in projects that strengthen neighborhoods, expand recreational opportunities, and improve quality of life for residents throughout the community.
